NeuroDevNet is the first trans-Canada initiative dedicated to studying children’s brain development from both basic and clinical perspectives. For a five-year period, the network, led by Principal Investigator Dan Goldowitz of the University of British Columbia, will work to improve understanding behind the causes of neurological deficits.

Goals / Outcomes: The initial focus will be on autism spectrum disorder, fetal alcohol spectrum disorder, and cerebral palsy. Researchers will explore how the normal brain develops, how to detect abnormalities, and how to repair the damaged brain. NeuroDevNet will also train the next generation of researchers in pediatric brain development.

In June 2011, NeuroDevNet hosted the Autism Public Forum in Vancouver during the 2011 Brain Development Conference, a national event aimed at sharing knowledge and information on advances in child brain development.
